The duration of recovery of consciousness after general anesthesia is an important indicator of anesthetic quality. One influencing factor is the length of surgery. Objectives: To examine the relationship between surgical duration and awakening time after general anesthesia at RSUD Caruban.
Methods: This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational analytictype and a cross-sectional design. It involved 66 patients undergoing surgery under general anesthesia. Data were collected from February to April 2025. Spearman's rho test was used due to non-normal data distribution.
Results: The majority of respondents were female (51.5%), aged 31–50 years (42.4%), and ASA II status (63.6%). Surgery duration >120 minutes was found in 42.4% of patients, while recovery time >15 minutes occurred in 57.6%. Spearman’s rho test revealed a significant relationship between surgery duration and recovery time (p = 0.000; r = 0.533).
Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between surgical duration and recovery time post general anesthesia. Longer surgery correlates with delayed recovery.
