Abstract

This research explores in depth the dynamics of hybrid moral regulation in working families across various regions of the archipelago in facing the challenges of the massive digital transformation era. Through the application of a qualitative multi-site ethnographic approach over a continuous four year observation period this study involved the active participation of twenty seven working families. Primary data collection in the field was carried out through an intensive participant observation process lasting three hours every day to record various authentic activities. The research results clearly show a paradigm shift from conventional restrictive control models to voluntary negotiation based value mediation methods that respect privacy. Field data analysis successfully found three main parenting typologies namely negotiated surveillance systems, communal cultural clash situations and forms of pseudo digital attachment. Crucial findings prove that adolescent psychological well being increases significantly when gadget devices are positioned as a highly transparent and open medium for value discussion. A rigid authoritarian approach that purely relies on communal shame is actually prone to triggering the emergence of multiple personalities and moral rejection attitudes in the souls of adolescents. The novelty of this scientific study lies entirely in the effort to integrate local communal cultural wisdom such as the concept of respect into the practice of cyber ethics. The final conclusion of the research confirms that the effectiveness level of digital parenting highly depends on the successful transformation process of parental roles into wise facilitators and mentors. The physical time limitations of working families can be optimally overcome through improving the quality of mediated communication that always prioritizes the principles of openness and honesty among members. The strategic implications of these scientific findings provide essential guidance for parents to design adaptive character education patterns to welcome the future.
